danish hygge lifestyle
The incredible Nimb Palace in the Tivoli garden in Copenhagen is a worthy representative of danish hygge spirit !
So what is Hygge?
A cultural experience, a state of mind, a feeling of well-being …. According to Danish translator ToveMaren Stakkestad, “Hygge was never meant to be translated. It was meant to be felt.”
The trendy Danish word that’s so impossible to translate - pronounced “hoo-guh” - has recently found its place in the Oxford English dictionary:
Hygge, n.
[mass noun] a quality of cosiness and comfortable conviviality that engenders a feeling of contentment or well-being (regarded as a defining characteristic of Danish culture)
